second day in shaolin! weather red hot! still studying eyebrow staff with master yan ao.
hong kong was great as ever,we had a great evening out with mike leeder,an englishman who has lived in hongkong for the last 20 years.
mike has been involved with the hongkong film business for many years, working along side jackie chan and jet li.and has worked on big pictures like fearless-mummy 3-yipman etc.....
he took us to a korean restaurant (food was excellent,no cats or dogs on the menu!) it was good of him to give us his time,as he was preparing for a shoot in africa! a really nice guy!
next on to guilin in china,(after a scary flight where we flew through a thunder-lighting storm!) we then met our lovely guide evelyn who was to look after us for the next two days.
first we had a boat trip through the mountains of guilin,a truly beautiful place!and very hot (40c)...
from there we went to yang shou, again very beautiful! next a raft ride down the river on a boat made of eight pieces of bamboo!
we then had a private show of cormorant fishing, with the birds diving in to catch the fish!
next onto a light show,(similar to the one in the shaolin mountains.) but this one is set actually on the river! with over 600 performers..excellent!
we finshed the evening in west street yangshou, which at nite turned into chinas version of newquay! bars, clubs, poledancing!(no ,we didnt go in)
final day we visited the flute caves, then on to the airport.

saw the shaolin mountain show(yet again) but quite a bit has changed.walked the mountain..nick ran it! he joins the ranks of the brave few that have made it to the top!!!!(cant remember who holds the record now? sai or mark)
hopefully we will get this form out the way this week, then hopefully we get another form or two in before we leave!
mr wang as ever has made sure that everything has run to plan!......mountain walk next week for nick..and then a foot massage! hope everything is going well at the school? |

Hello Chris
Shaolin is an amazin place, hope thid is not going to be my last trip! Legs are aching, Neil said I have acquired the Shaolin walk, I don't mind that so much its the stomace cramps and the need to take imodium tables on top of the training thats the killer (I'm sure your familiar). Arms are battered to bits, learning a 2 man form doing the same moves hundreds of times arms clashing and hitting the same spot every time.
All good fun though, cant beleive it's going by so quickly!
See you soon |

Hi all,
Glad to hear all is well over in China.
Unfortunately, I've ruptured my achillies tendon :-(. Took me a week to diagnose it- I thought something was wrong when I couldn't feel my tendon- DoH! Have had operation 2 weeks ago to fix it. Will need 3 months of cast+ 3 months physio. Should be back to jumping around 100% in 6 months.
Anyone know when Neil's coming back to UK? Would like to get into wing chun as my legs recover.
